The QuickSilver DDM design data management system from Zeal Solutions has today been accepted as a SolidWorks Certified Gold Product just four months after being launched.
Developed by Zeal Solutions, a subsidiary of NT CadCam the UKs largest SolidWorks VAR, QuickSilver DDM becomes one of only 32 applications worldwide to win Gold Partner status. Zeal was the first UK Company to hold Gold Partner status with its CircuitWorks product. To qualify for Gold Partner status, applications are tested exhaustively to ensure total integration with SolidWorks and ensure they have the same look and feel and fully support SolidWorks powerful file associativity.
"SolidWorks tests the application and support facilities so rigorously that few applications make the grade" said Zeal Solutions CEO Bob Clements.
Launched on July 30, QuickSilver DDM was designed specifically for SolidWorks to combat the problem of getting conventional PDM and EDM applications to work with a parametric-driven application. It manages modifications, revisions and document control using SolidWorks in-built intelligence to record changes.
"PDM systems are typically designed for tracking data through an organization and will not usually support the peculiarities that a fully associative 3D CAD system such as SolidWorks provides to a design office," Clements said. "QuickSilver DDM is a dedicated data management system developed from the ground-up by design engineers for design engineers."
QuickSilver DDM is radically different to any PDM system on the market. It stores all the information within the specific SolidWorks file and does not use a database, so does not take up a lot of space on the server, does not require additional database software and the file size is kept to a minimum. Another benefit is that the data is completely portable and email enabled.
Customers are also accepting the product with 140 copies sold in the first three months alone.
"Whereas traditional PDM takes weeks to install and years to configure, QuickSilver DDM was working in four hours," said Jeremy Mead, design engineer at Starret, a company making optical measuring equipment.
"Having used SmarTeam now for two years, QuickSilver DDM is a breath of fresh air," said Nick Vincent, a mechanical design engineer at Keymed, a specialized medical and industrial equipment manufacturer. "Not only does it look and work like SolidWorks, but it has the most intuitive and useable interface of any data management product I have seen. It simply gets on with its job and lets the designers get on with theirs."
Zeal Solutions has already established Distribution agreements for QuickSilver DDM in the USA, Australia, Japan and most of Europe and expects to sell a copy of QuickSilver DDM with every new SolidWorks seat. QuickSilver DDM is priced at under $1000.
"It has been a long time coming, but we believe that we have produced the benchmark in design data management for SolidWorks. We have lost sleep so that you don't have to. Take a look - we think you will be impressed." said Zeals Head of Operations, Ian Rudge.
