“Q Up” PDF Publishing and Processing with Bluebeam® Software’s Powerful New PDFin’ Machine, Bluebeam Q™

Bluebeam’s Latest Innovation Centralizes and Automates PDF Creation for Enterprises

PASADENA, Calif. — (BUSINESS WIRE) — July 29, 2010 — Today Bluebeam Software, the leading developer of PDF solutions for the design and construction industry, is launching a powerful PDFin’ machine. Bluebeam Q is a server-based solution that creates PDFs from CAD and Office files and performs batch operations such as automatically rotating PDFs, adding text stamps and applying security. This incredible enterprise-level application, formerly known as Bluebeam Conversion Server, makes high-speed, automated PDF creation and processing as easy as sending files to “Q.”

“Bluebeam Q is the ultimate solution for centralizing PDF publishing and provides the missing link for many companies wanting to automate document-based processes,” said Richard Lee, Bluebeam Software President and CEO. “Whether you need to create thousands of PDFs every day, provide professional PDF creation technology to all end users or automatically create and stamp PDFs from within a document management system, Q makes it simple for both IT professionals and end users.”

Putting Files into Q

With four options to choose from, it’s easy for users to “Q up” files for PDF creation and processing. The network PDF printer, which may be installed on users’ workstations, makes PDF creation as simple as 1-2 print.

Watched folders enable Q to scan selected network folders to create PDFs based on set intervals or in real time. Since watched folders can also perform PDF editing tasks, such as adding headers and footers or flattening PDF markups, it is a robust solution for preparing PDFs for distribution and archiving.

Bluebeam Q’s Script Engine revs up an enterprise’s PDFin’ abilities. The Script Editor enables IT Administrators to quickly engage over 50 built-in script commands to process PDFs including inserting cover pages and processing colors. When integrated with a programming language, the Script Engine can perform advanced functions such as extracting file property data and modifying PDF markups, thus helping large organizations standardize any review and approval process.

Finally, the API helps IT Administrators unleash Bluebeam Q’s true powers by enabling integration with existing systems. The API can be tied into document management systems, and can even pull information from web-based applications or databases to automatically input data into PDF documents and reports.
