The article describes how Falk PLI’s Engineering and Surveying group used the intelligence and accuracy of the laser technology in CADWorx fieldPipe on a project designing a large number of piping spools for fabrication. By using CADWorx fieldPipe, the article discusses how they saved approximately six to eight hours per spool piece – a full work day – eliminating the added cost and rework. Falk PLI reports that they completed the project in 50 per cent of the time it would have normally taken without this powerful tool.
CADWorx fieldPipe was developed by people familiar with piping design and how designers and engineers work in the field, making it easy to set up and use. The accuracy of the package comes from the laser-based surveying techniques it uses. Because the model is being produced live during the scanning, the designer can check the drawing and be sure that all of the relevant information has been accurately obtained before leaving the job site.
