Virtual Geomatics Announces Sanborn as an Authorized Reseller for LiDAR Software

Virtual Geomatics’ VG4D LiDAR software suite extends value to Sanborn customers.

Austin, Texas, June 27, 2008 – Virtual Geomatics, a provider of LiDAR solutions, announced that the company has signed a reseller agreement with Sanborn, a leader in the geospatial industry, to serve as a reseller to its customers of the VG4D Suite consisting of Production Manager, Data Manager and Viewer.

The Virtual Geomatics’ software solutions are deployed for production in Sanborn’s Colorado Springs operations. As its customers move forward with larger mapping programs that require increased resolution and faster delivery schedules, Sanborn has developed proprietary technology to respond to customer demands. By offering the advantages of the VG4D software solutions to its customers, Sanborn will offer even greater value to its customers with the strength of enhanced product quality management and data explotation capabilities.

Jamie Curtin, Sanborn’s Executive Vice President of Business Development, “After we deliver LiDAR projects to our customers, a significant issue they have experienced is how to extract the most value from their investment, due previously to the lack of LiDAR solutions for the end‐user to not only visualize but to exploit the data they invested in. The Virtual Geomatics VG4D Data Manager solution solves this problem. Thus, the next logical step for Sanborn, after deploying VG4D solutions in production, is to extend the benefits to our customers via having the ability to offer the VG4D solutions to them along with our project dliverables.”

The VG4D suite of LiDAR solutions consist of multiple software products, two of which are Production Manager and Data Manager. VG4D Production Manager provides an end‐to‐end LiDAR production workflow solution including advanced filtering and editing tools, process‐oriented workflow management and production metrics. VG4D Data Manager is a subset (does not include the filtering tools) of VG4D Production Manager which has two deployable paths; 1 for the production workflow for QC/edit operations that do not require the filtering tools and 1 for the end‐user to have immediate functionality to not only visualize but also to exploit processed LiDAR data.

“The VG4D software offers unique opportunities for mapping firms to add value for their customers, over the industry incumbents,” noted Rick Vincent, chief operating officer of Virtual Geomatics. “Sanborn’s decision to become a reseller for our VG4D LiDAR solutions reinforces our position in the growing market for high quaity LiDAR solutions that offer greater production efficiencies for mapping firms and enhanced exploitation capabilities for theend‐users.”
