Laser-Scan registers first Radius Studio™ Certified Practitioner

Laser-Scan is delighted to announce that Simon Greener from The Spatial DB Advisor has been awarded the first registration under its new Radius Studio Certified Practitioner Programme.

Laser-Scan launched Radius Studio in January 2006 to general acclaim in the industry. Radius Studio has since been purchased by the British Columbia Department of Lands and is being used successfully in many other pilot investigations. Radius Studio reinforces Laser-Scan’s commitment to the quality control and re-use of spatial data in enterprise architectures.

The act of conflating spatial data, when much of it was collected before the onset of GPS and or based on a paper map paradigm, means that the data has to be transformed. The data needs transforming as part of integrating back-office departmental applications to web based information systems. Radius Studio also quantifies the conformance of the data with the business rules thereby allowing quantification of the migration task.

Laser-Scan regards the independent consultant as playing a critical role in this migration, hence the creation of the Studio Certified Practitioner Programme. Under this Programme independent consultants can be trained and become expert in Radius Studio and can use the Product to create new data models for their customers by examining existing data and extracting business rules that they conform to, thereby providing superior data quality and improving customer’s decision-making.

Michael Sanderson, CEO of Laser-Scan, commented:

"We have been working with Simon for the last 3 or so years. He has consistently provided pertinent feedback on the tools we have released in the Oracle spatial technology stack. He is a total enthusiast in the spatial domain. I have no hesitation in recommending Simon as a Radius Studio Practitioner"

Simon Greener said:

"Good business decision making requires quality data and metadata. Few companies realise the importance of defining, discovering and managing the rules and metadata that describes data and enabling its correction in a way that empowers end-users, as does Laser-Scan. The recent release of the groundbreaking Radius Studio product builds upon the rules-driven data management that powers Laser-Scan’s Radius Topology product. I am excited that, as a Laser-Scan Certified Practitioner, I will be able to use their Radius products to help customers improve their decision making through better data quality."
