Tanguay Furniture Selects GEOCOMtms? A.MAZE Routes Solution To Improve and Personalize Customer Services

Atlanta, Georgia, May 7, 2002 – Fleet route optimization solution provider, GEOCOMtms, announced today that Tanguay Furniture, a large furniture retailer with 12 stores, operating a fleet of 60 trucks with over 140,000 deliveries each year, has selected its A.MAZE Routes software to provide them with a solution that will help improve their customer service delivery time, reduce operations’ costs and allow them to personalize and adapt services to their customers’ needs.

Tanguay Furniture was looking for a system that would assist their dispatchers generate valid routes with optimal results. They were looking for an application that could address their peak season requirements of more than 1000 daily deliveries as well as their unique requirements specific to the furniture industry. They wanted to optimize their routes and efficiently sequence their stops, geocode accurately and work from high quality digital maps. The solution to their challenge was the scalable A.MAZE constrained fleet route optimization solution from GEOCOMtms.

“We analyzed a variety of software solutions, trying to find one that could achieve the results we were looking for,” says Louis Leclerc, Delivery Manager, at Tanguay Furniture. The bottom line is that only GEOCOMtms could actually process the data properly and deliver a technology that could accurately geocode and that had the scalability required. GEOCOMtms was also the only one to provide a database that responded to our needs and territories and that offered regular updates to keep the data current. It gave us functionalities that adapted to the constraints of the furniture industry and provided us with parameters for each delivery point.”

“Initially we will use the A.MAZE Routes constraint-based fleet routing engine to optimize all of our delivery routes. Following this, we will integrate the A.MAZE Zones module to allow us an even more efficient design of our territories.”

Andr頊olicoeur, CFO of Tanguay Furniture added, “We obtained an 11% improvement during a pilot. This gave us the value and ROI required to go forward with this project. We believe we can improve these numbers after implementation, which will result in substantial decrease in operations’ costs for us.”

The A.MAZE solution from GEOCOMtms is based on Web services components that allow the architecture to be scaled to any size problems. This technology infrastructure, when combined with the constraint-based, genetic algorithm optimization and high quality maps, enables large LTL/pick-up and delivery companies to implement, automate and reap value from optimizing their operations.

“We are very proud to learn that after all the testing GEOCOMtms’ A.MAZE Routes came out on top,” stated Bernard T괵, President and CEO of GEOCOMtms, “Tanguay Furniture’s choice reaffirms the quality of our application and ability to deliver benefits and cost-savings in demanding delivery environments. It is fundamental for GEOCOMtms to deliver the very best in technology and work with our customers to deliver net profits.”
