TSA Integrates Spatial's 3D InterOp Translator Components With UGS' Parasolid 3D Geometric Kernel Modeler

BERKELEY, CA -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jul 06, 2006 -- Tech Soft America (TSA), a leading provider of premier development tools, training and consulting to the engineering software industry, today announced the completion of their integration between Spatial's 3D InterOp translator components and UGS' Parasolid® 3D geometric kernel modeler. This integration provides Parasolid-based applications with a suite of robust tools that enable the direct import of many of today's most popular CAD formats including Dassault's native CATIA v5 data access technology. In addition to the integration with Parasolid, these translators may also be used along with TSA's HOOPS 3D Application Framework for building visualization applications with extensive data import capabilities.

Formats supported as part of this integration include native CATIA v5, CATIA v4, UGS' NX™ and Pro/Engineer Wildfire, along with the neutral IGES, STEP, VDA-FS and SAT formats. Support for native SolidWorks and Inventor will soon be added in an upcoming release.

Ron Fritz, TSA Managing Partner, noted, "Consistent and robust CAD data import is obviously a challenging and resource-intensive problem that all engineering software developers are faced with. As a close partner of both UGS and Spatial we were able to link together their respective technologies, giving Parasolid licensees a rich set of quality translators to choose from. This latest extension to the TSA component line is being enthusiastically welcomed by our customers, who look to us to provide them with advanced building blocks for successful software development."

About 3D InterOp

Spatial's comprehensive 3D InterOp suite allows transparent direct and indirect exchange of solid, surface, and wireframe data via a variety of neutral and native 3D formats, including CATIA v5, CATIA v4, IGES, STEP, VDA-FS, Pro/ENGINEER, UGS' NX Parasolid, and ACIS. Designed using an architecture that allows direct connection to CAD information, 3D InterOp allows partners to add translators as needed to increase data transfer capabilities. Each component is fine-tuned and regularly updated to ensure accurate 3D data interoperability.

About Parasolid

Parasolid, a key software product in UGS' PLM Components suite of solutions, provides the geometric modeling foundation for many of the world's leading computer-aided design, manufacturing and engineering analysis (CAD/CAM/CAE) applications.
