Four local Solid Edge organizations plan a combined inaugural Midwestern regional user group meeting in October to exchange valuable technical techniques and learn how to become more productive with their computer-aided design (CAD) software system.
The Oct. 27 meeting in Columbus, Ohio will be attended by Solid Edge user groups from Northern Ohio, Southern Ohio, Michigan and Kentucky.
Highlighting the meeting will be technical presentations from Dan Staples, business unit manager for Solid Edge. Staples, a 20-year veteran in the mechanical CAD industry, plans to provide a full overview of the new Solid Edge Version 16.
Other agenda items for the combined user group meeting include a technical session on implementing Insight, the design management technology built directly into Solid Edge. User success and Solid Edge Voyager Program presentations also will take place.
The event is sponsored by four top-notch Solid Edge certified value-added resellers: Alamar Systems Inc., Appropriate Technology Inc., CAM Logic Inc. and Engineering Methods Inc.
Jack Beeckman, chairman of the Solid Edge Global User Group organization and CAD Administrator at Liebert Corp., will host the event.
"Dan Staples' comprehensive, first-hand knowledge and insight into the most modern CAD system in the world will provide our attendees with an excellent opportunity to increase their individual design productivity and that of their companies," Beeckman said.
Staples has 20 years experience in the mechanical CAD industry, with key roles at Intergraph Corp. and UGS. Staples was instrumental in defining the original vision for the Solid Edge product line and managing its deployment and evolution. Staples holds a bachelors degree in mechanical engineering from Rice University and an MBA from Vanderbilt University.
