MobilityLab: HP And Microsoft Alumni Aim To Redefine Enterprise Mobile Workplace By Launching The Integrated WorksPad App For iOS And Android Devices

MobilityLab LLC announces the launch of the WorksPad solution that aims to provide enterprise information workers around the world with integrated mobile workplace merging file-sharing, email, calendar and contacts in one integrated app.

BARCELONA, Spain — (BUSINESS WIRE) — March 3, 2015 — WorksPad’s developing company, MobilityLab, was created by Microsoft and HP alumni to show a new direction in enterprise mobility by applying the information worker’s multitasking scenarios to the modern mobile world.

Having received $3M of funding from private investors since 2012, MobilityLab has primarily operated in stealth, concentrating on R&D. Now with the new WorksPad 2.0, MobilityLab starts its global expansion in order to create a new approach for enterprises to meet their employee’s needs of mobility.

“Standard Android and iOS mail, calendar, and contacts for are good for consumers, but they are about one function, per app approach. The common consumer user experience is about working with one item at a time without ability to open multiple items to switch across them. This is the key mobility issue when supporting multitasking scenarios,” says CEO of MobilityLab Sergey Orlik. “From another perspective, how do we work with business documents? Enterprise file sync and sharing solutions are about accessing file resources, viewing documents, and editing. However, these three key information worker tools – file management, office and email client have traditionally been disconnected. WorksPad solves this entire problem in a secure and centralized way,” he adds.

WorksPad’s multiscreen user interface allows the opening of multiple documents, email messages and appointments at separate swipeable screens, with screens ribbons displaying all of the opened items.

The app’s embedded office — Polaris Office Enterprise — provides users with document-editing capabilities. Moreover, WorksPad allows users to attach documents to email message, save attachments in corporate resources, and manage file structures on iPad, iPhone and Android devices.

“Windows Explorer, Office, and Outlook are some of the most important business software products in corporate PC world. We have combined such a kind of functionality and adopted a typical mobile information worker’s scenario to create the next generation business productivity solution,” explains Sergey Makaryin, Business Development Director of MobilityLab. “Our partners can finally provide the effective responses to the everyday corporate mobile user’s needs. WorksPad is about pragmatic mobility with added value and efficiency,” he adds.

Additionally, WorksPad is not limited by the standard PC-like functionality. It breaks the walls across iOS, Android and Windows in terms of information exchange.

No matter what users bring to the meetings — whether it is an iOS, Android or Windows device — WorksPad lets them easily exchange files across devices and operating systems in the same WiFi/LAN network.

Furthermore, WorksPad has a special presentation mode on iPad, Android and Windows PC that provides business users with cross-devices screen sharing. These direct file and screen sharing capabilities are built on and extend on system level Internet of Things (IoT) technology AllJoyn framework.

“This is a great example of how the AllJoyn framework can be used to unleash new levels of innovation and connectivity,” said Philip DesAutels, senior director, IoT, AllSeen Alliance. “It’s very cool to see WorksPad using AllJoyn to offer a new approach to business on mobile devices and make mobile devices more powerful in proximal networks. We’re thrilled to have MobilityLab as a member of the Alliance and look forward to working together as we advance the technology.”

“WorksPad is the real next generation of enterprise mobility solutions which integrated the key needs of an enterprise user,” emphasized Sergey Orlik. “And we have well-founded ambitions, proven engineering excellence and working technologies to show the value of our work against disintegrated point solutions which came up during consumerization hype wave,” he adds.

The first public demonstration of the solution is held at Mobile Worldwide Congress in Barcelona.

MobilityLab, LLC is an enterprise start-up ISV focused on developing the next generation out-of-the-box enterprise mobility solution — the integrated enterprise mobile workplace WorksPad. MobilityLab has an extended technology partnership with the leading global enterprise mobility ecosystem providers, including Citrix, Good Technology, IBM, and Symantec. Since October 2014, MobilityLab has been a member of AllSeen Alliance community.
