Feb 19, 2015 -- The Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSi) six-year program to develop a new authoritative spatial data referencing platform known as ‘Prime2’ is nearing completion. This platform accurately integrates multiple data sources for improved analysis, decision making, and resource optimization, and enables further efficiency savings to OSi.
“OSi has developed a standardized, authoritative digital referencing framework that enables the consistent referencing and integration of national data related to location,” explained Andy McGill, senior operations manager, Ordnance Survey. “Bentley’s commitment to providing the tools necessary for 21st century design means that OSi can confidently maintain the integrity of its core data in an efficient manner to meet modern demands.”
Utilizing Bentley Map within the new ‘Prime2’ environment, OSi was able to create this standardized digital mapping reference system that enables geographic objects, such as buildings, land parcels, roads, and utility infrastructure, to be identified and referenced, maintaining topologically consistent data at the operator level without the need for ongoing database administration overhead.
