Jan 27, 2015 -- The WorkPLAN management system from Vero Software has become an integral aspect of a tool-maker and plastic-injection moulder’s capability to plan and monitor all its projects.
Based at Bangalore, India, Electro Plasts Private Limited specialises in manufacturing high precision plastic injection moulds measuring up to 1.3m x 1m and weighing up to five tons.
Apart from the tools, the company also manufactures injection moulded components. They have capacity to produce plastic components up to 1.5Kg shot weight from a wide variety of plastic material, ranging from normal thermoplastics, to plastics with fillers.
Industry sectors they serve include electronics, electrical, water treatment, business machines, automotive and more, with clients such as Sogefi MNR, Quantum Aeon, Nexsys Controls Pvt. Ltd., Piaggio Vehicles, and Rexroth Bosch Group.
While their 15,000 square foot facility houses both the tool-room and injection moulding division – meaning, clients receive a hassle-free end-to-end solution from just one location – it does mean they need a state-of-the-art production control system.
And this is where WorkPLAN comes in, playing an essential role in MIS Manager Gagana Bale Mahabhanu’s responsibility for IT integration; ERP optimisation, implementation and training; and tracking operations. She says WorkPLAN gives them a tremendous edge on quality and delivery times. “On time delivery and excellent customer support are the prime factors for the company’s emergence as one of India’s most favoured injection mould suppliers.”
WorkPLAN is vital to their production, showing management all aspects of a project’s progress and resource utilisation, and tracking all costs. “It’s also a vital tool-room ERP system for consolidating, interpreting and analysing crucial data.”
“It helps us document and circulate a definite process plan without ambiguity, provides data to help measure human efforts and resource utilization, schedules projects and their processes according to priority, and generates the machine loading plan.”
She says a number of reports ensure they have a constant snapshot of where everything is on the shopfloor and what stage the job is at. They include Daily Resource Utilization, route cards, and purchase orders.
And with four CNC machining centres, three CNC EDMs, a CNC wire EDM and six conventional machines, the resource loading list is particularly valuable.
While a large number of the company’s 50 employees use the five WorkPLAN modules of Estimator, Job Tracker, Purchase, Time Management and Scheduler, Gagana Bale Mahabhanu personally tracks sales orders, process plans, route cards and time with it. “I schedule the projects and create reports required by senior management.”
Most ERP systems take control of the work environment - from hardware to everyday processes - without understanding the company’s specific, individual needs. But WorkPLAN was developed to meet the requirements and replicate specific procedures used by CAD/CAM-centric industries. Focusing on budget, time, manpower, materials, resources, costs and cash flow, WorkPLAN Solutions put manufacturers firmly in control of all their processes and increase their productivity.
Scheduler: WorkPLAN schedules projects and jobs based on set priorities and availability of resources, performing forward looking, backward looking or period simulations.
Time Management is an easy to use, all-in-one tool to manage employees' attendance, and hours, while also tracking their progress on tasks, highlighting times spent at each scheduled work centre of the project. Data is entered from a computer terminal, touch screen, barcode readers or via manual input and time cards.
Having installed WorkPLAN around a year ago, Electro Plasts has made full use of the software’s support services to ensure they use it to its full potential. “It has been so easy to implement, as training and support is carried out through online sessions using Team Viewer.”
WorkPLAN is a fully-scalable family of manufacturing software solutions, from project management to ERP, which enables custom manufacturers, project-based and make-to-order companies to automate and manage processes such as job costing, quotations, sales order processing, planning, quality, time, purchasing and stock management.
