PLMIG updates the CEO Briefing Document for PLM

Oxford, England. September 24, 2014 -- Continuing the flow of results from the PLM Financial Framework initiative, the PLMIG announces the release of an updated CEO Briefing Document for PLM.

This follows the publication of the new PLM Project Justification Handbook ( MCADCafe Sept. 09) and the PLM Financial Primer ( MCADCafe Sept. 17).

The CEO Briefing Document is deliberately short and concise. It gives a high-level overview of PLM principles and examples that can be used to support presentations to the Board about PLM issues or project proposals.

The Briefing Document is completely generic, and is relevant to any Board member of any size of company, in any industry.  It is designed to be used in an active situation, where a PLM project has been properly justified or a PLM issue has been properly presented.  It improves the interaction between the PLM Manager and the Board, and prevents the distraction that happens when PLM has to be explained as part of the case for go-ahead.

A key feature of the CEO Briefing Document is that the PLM Manager can edit it to include relevant examples from the company's own operations, which makes it instantly more relevant and understandable for executive colleagues who may be sceptical or tight on time. A separate set of Instructions for Use provides guidance for this.

More information is available on the PLMIG web site. The full toolset is available via PLMIG membership.

The PLM Interest Group
The PLM Interest Group is the leading neutral industry group for PLM. It has developed the first ever Standard for PLM Governance, together with a new generation of applied PLM material including the PLM Best Practice Library and the Path to PLM. Previously PLMIG workshop series have produced the PLM Benchmarking Handbook; the PLM Maturity Reference Manual; and the PLMuERP Handbook.
