Broadcom Introduces Industry's First Triple Speed 10/40/100G Lite-PHY

Next Generation 28nm Lite-PHY Offers Lowest Power Consumption with Highest Port Count Density

SAN FRANCISCO, March 11, 2014 — (PRNewswire) —

SAN FRANCISCO, March 11, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- OFC Technical Conference 2014 -- Broadcom Corporation (NASDAQ: BRCM), a global innovation leader in semiconductor solutions for wired and wireless communications, today announced the industry's first triple speed 10/40/100G Lite physical layer transceiver (Lite-PHY) designed for high-density data center applications. Fabricated in 28 nanometer (nm) CMOS technology, the BCM82322 Lite-PHY delivers the industry's highest port count density (12 full duplex ports) and reduces power up to 50 percent1 , consuming <150mW per 10G full duplex port. For more news, visit Broadcom's Newsroom.

Demand for 10/40/100G ports continues to grow at a rapid pace, driving the need for higher integration and lower power consumption. Broadcom continues to respond to these demands by developing next-generation devices ideally suited for these requirements.

"With the introduction of our latest 28nm triple speed Lite-PHY, Broadcom continues to demonstrate leadership in the PHY space and expand our industry-leading portfolio of 1/10/40/100G solutions," said Lorenzo Longo, Broadcom Vice President and General Manager of Physical Layer Products. "We remain committed to meeting the ongoing demands of our customers by delivering the highest level of performance while significantly reducing power consumption."

The BCM82322 Lite-PHY delivers comprehensive PHY functionality while simplifying board design for server and network equipment manufacturers.  In addition, the device offers seamless high-speed I/O routing to SFP+/QSFP+/CXP modules and to the host switch. The BCM82322 also minimizes external components by integrating AC-coupling capacitors on the high speed receivers, which optimizes high-speed routing functions.

Key Features:

  • Single 100GE CXP cPPI to CAUI Lite-PHY supporting SR10/CR10
  • Three 40GE QSFP+ XLPPI to XLAUI Lite-PHY supporting SR4/LR4/CR4
  • Twelve 10GE SFP+ SFI to XFI Lite-PHY supporting SR/LR/CR
  • Low-speed SFP+/QSFP+/CXP Data I/O
  • IEEE802.3ba 40GE CR4 Cl85 TX Training
  • High performance Adaptive Receive Equalization
  • Low latency design

Availability
The BCM82322 is now sampling. Other devices in this 28nm family of Lite-PHY devices offer quad (BCM82324) and octal (BCM82328) densities. See Broadcom's portfolio of networking solutions for data center and enterprise on the OFC show floor at booth #530 located in the Corporate Village 2.
