Latest GibbsCAM Release Provides Next Generation Windows Interface, Windows XP/2000 Certification and New 2.5D Solids Option with Feature Recognition Technologies

MOORPARK, CA – March 5, 2004 – Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM®, computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, announced today that they will be demonstrating GibbsCAM 2004 at WESTEC 2004 in Los Angeles, California on March 22nd-25th, 2004 at Booth #3268. Visitors will also be able to see demonstrations of GibbsCAM 2004's next generation Windows interface and the new 2.5D Solids Machining option.

"Gibbs was the first in the US to provide a CAM application with integrated solids modeling," states Bill Gibbs, president and founder of Gibbs and Associates. "With the 2.5D Solids option, once again GibbsCAM is breaking new ground and setting new levels of usability functionality. And of course, the new module has been designed in keeping with GibbsCAM's commitment to ease-of-use making it extremely easy to learn and productively use."

With the mechanical design industry moving more and more to solids-based solutions, more and more of the design models being manufactured today are provided as solid models. The new 2.5D Solids option was specifically designed to provide powerful CNC programming capability to production machining users who are manufacturing 2.5D parts. Starting with powerful feature-based selection tools and face selection capabilities enhanced to recognize aspects of 2.5D geometry, GibbsCAM's industry leading ease-of-use has been enhanced to efficiently interact with 2.5D parts. A powerful automatic feature recognition capability has been incorporated into GibbsCAM and integrated with the Hole Wizard, streamlining the specification and generation of hole-making processes. The new option also introduces advanced 2.5D milling and turning machining functionality, such as the ability to interactively machine solids directly.

With the GibbsCAM 2004 release, GibbsCAM's intuitive graphical user interface gets a number of Windows-enabled enhancements, such as standard independent Windows dialogs and dialog controls supporting user control of transparency, snap alignment, and roll-up. Application windows can also now be cascaded, tiled and minimized and the main application window frame can be easily resized. GibbsCAM 2004 was also awarded Microsoft's "Designed for Windows XP/2000" certification, further demonstrating Gibbs' commitment to the Wintel computing platform.
