The Foundry and Luxology Join Forces

Combined company offers new creative choice for designers and product visualization artists

London, 25th September 2012 – Leading visual effects software developer, The Foundry, today announced a merger with Luxology. This move expands the creative possibilities for designers, CAD artists, and arch-viz experts that require the best high-end VFX and 3D software tools for their visualization projects.

The Foundry brings a stable of award-winning 2D and 3D VFX software - including the industry standard compositor NUKE, and MARI, a 3D painting solution - to the table. Luxology offers its flagship product, modo®, which is a favourite of thousands of artists and designers worldwide. Both product lines have been heavily production-tested and are built with a strong emphasis on providing artist-friendly workflows.

The collective product range is very exciting, but equally important is the shared ethos of the two companies and the staff within them. Both The Foundry and Luxology have strong reputations for being community driven and good collaborators. They are widely recognised for building tools around customer needs, providing artist-friendly workflows and great support.

Bill Collis, CEO of The Foundry comments:
“We were impressed by modo's strong roots in the design market and by Luxology’s focus on creating artist-friendly, highly advanced technologies. Our customers are already using The Foundry’s products in areas including product design, architecture and even on projects such as album cover artwork. The Foundry and Luxology's products are highly complementary, and we both like our products to be open and flexible, so the customers can choose how they like to work. In the short term we will be continuing to develop the interaction between our products, which will be of immediate benefit to all of our customers. We can’t wait to see what our combined experience and knowledge will allow us to build in the long term.”

Brad Peebler, President of Luxology comments:
“The Foundry has an impressive pedigree in the visual effects industry, where its products and attention to customers are second to none. Joining forces with The Foundry will allow us to further our efforts to make modo the preferred tool for both concept design and product visualization. Together, we aim to accelerate the trend of the design and entertainment industries converging in terms of media, quality and deliverables."

Scott Robertson, President of Design Studio Press comments:
"As a concept designer modo has become the most innovative and essential tool supporting my creative workflow. I look forward to great things coming from this merger of two of the coolest computer graphics companies on the planet."
