Trojan Defense and Silvaco Announce Collaboration for Development of Trojan Defense's Carnyx™ Ionizing Radiation and Neutron Detector

HERNDON, Va. and SANTA CLARA, Calif., May 17, 2012 — (PRNewswire) — Trojan Defense and Silvaco today announced their collaboration for the development of the Trojan Defense Carnyx™ ionizing radiation and neutron detector. Trojan Defense has been using Silvaco's tool set to develop the Carnyx™ solid-state ionizing radiation and neutron detector. Trojan Defense's Carnyx™ is an ultra-low-power, low-profile, embeddable ionizing radiation and neutron sensor, with broad applications in stand-off detection of Special Nuclear Materials (SNM), nuclear dosimetry, civil engineering, nuclear medicine, space exploration, and the oil and gas drilling industry.

The breakthrough Carnyx™ ionizing radiation and neutron detector enables the creation of the Global Neutron Grid™ (GNG), a high-performance wireless detector network. The GNG™ will provide the crucial early detection of weapons-grade nuclear materials (e.g. SNM) upon its introduction into the supply chain. The GNG™ will provide the deterrence for the defense of our country and of our trading partners and allies.

The Carnyx™ detector was prototyped using Silvaco's design tools for analog semiconductor processes, device and design automation solutions to simulate radiation effects on solid-state CMOS electronics. Other Silvaco tools such as SmartSpice™ and Expert™ ensured that the sensor designed by Trojan Defense would be successfully and accurately fabricated in the target foundry.
