  • Assembly Performance Software targets quality and traceability improvements in manual assembly

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 17, 2012 — (PRNewswire) — PerfectPart Software, a developer of assembly performance solutions for manufacturers today announced it has released PerfectPart v4.0, the industry's first software appliance designed specifically to improve quality and enable traceability in manual assembly manufacturing operations. PerfectPart is available preinstalled on touchscreen hardware, and is pre-integrated for "one-click" connection to a number of commonly used plant floor tools and I/O devices. A browser-based administrative interface allows system management from any internet-connected device, including modern mobile devices. Intuitive, user-friendly configuration allows for easy, rapid application installation and maintenance by plant personnel, avoiding additional pressure on IT resources. The appliance-based design results in a highly scalable deployment model, allowing organizations to start with a single station and easily scale into hundreds without additional integration services. PerfectPart's extensibility allows cost-effective customization to accommodate the unique integration requirements associated with some enterprise PLM, ERP, MES, or plant floor system configurations.

PerfectPart 4.0 addresses the two most fundamental and costly challenges facing manual assembly manufacturing environments: quality enforcement and traceability. With PerfectPart, work instruction development, deployment, revisions and links to engineering design documents are easily maintained by plant employees. PerfectPart 4.0 also accommodates a wide combination of positive verification work-enforcement techniques, including required operator inputs, automatic sensors, Pick2Light inventories, and real-time tool data (e.g. torque applied). Its comprehensive track and trace data capture and reporting is a key factor in managing warranty exposure and minimizing the impact of production recalls. The intuitive, visually rich operator interface allows for rapid adoption with virtually no training time during deployment.

PerfectPart is currently deployed in multiple assembly environments, such as engine, wheel, welding equipment, and various automotive parts. It was recently independently evaluated by a student-led program at a major state university, who found it to be the most user-friendly application for work instruction and quality enforcement currently available.

"Software Appliances are a major advantage in manufacturing applications, because they dramatically simplify the deployment, integration, and upkeep of production-oriented productivity software – at a cost that delivers substantial payback and ROI," said Mark Heringshausen, General Manager of PerfectPart Software. "PerfectPart is also offered on a subscription basis," he added, "which ensures that our customers can take advantage of improved functionality and new device connectivity as we add them."
