Best-Ever EMO for Alphacam and Edgecam

EMO 2011 was the best-ever for Planit Software, with both market-leading brands Alphacam and Edgecam reporting high levels of firm orders and strong sales leads.

Over the six days of the show at Hannover – described as the most important international meeting point for the metalworking sector – Planit took around 280 leads, and met with over 100 existing customers from across the world.

“It’s all about the quality of those leads,” says Planit’s International Account Manager Nick Spurrett. “We would expect to turn a high percentage of them into further sales.”

With EMO organisers saying that optimising processes has become even more important to manufacturers, visitors were impressed with the new functionality and latest enhancements in Alphacam and Edgecam 2012 R1, which were both unveiled at the exhibition.

Nick Spurrett says the 18 Edgecam and Alphacam experts on the stand constantly demonstrated how the state-of-the-art software improves process integration, automation and speed of throughput, optimising workpiece costs.

“We spent a lot of time talking to our resellers, and to their clients who also visited the show, along with many potential new customers looking to make capital investment decisions on improving their manufacturing with the right software.”

Exhibiting under the Planit umbrella, the stand combined both brands as one metal team for the first time, to EMO Hannover’s global visitors.

The following are just some of the many functionality improvements in Alphacam 2012 R1 unveiled at the exhibition:

  • New and Improved 3D Machining Strategies
  • Continued Improvements to Toolpath Associativity and Operation Editing/Updating
  • Solid Viewing Support for all Modules/Level
  • Updated and Improved Vertical Application Add-ins.

And visitors to the stand saw the following enhancements to Edegecam:

  • New Flow Surface Cycle
  • New Waveform Roughing Strategy
  • New Slot Cycle Support for Features:
  • Tailstocks in Edgecam
  • Simulator Enhancements.

As well as the Alphacam and Edgecam software proving to be a hot attraction for visitors, the fire-juggler/fire-eater (pictured left) helped to fan the flames of success, too, with regular trail-blazing performances every day.
