True Project Collaboration with Building Lifecycle Management” at Upcoming American Institute of Architects Conference
Date: November 12, 2010
Place: WASHINGTON, DC, USA

WHO: Patrick Mays, VP Marketing, Architecture and Planning, Dassault Systèmes

WHAT: “True Project Collaboration with Building Lifecycle Management”

WHEN: November 12, 2010

WHERE: American Institute of Architects (AIA) New Technologies, Alliances, Practices Conference AIA National Headquarters, Washington, D.C. Broadcast live from nine regional AIA venues and individual Web connections available

For more information on the conference, visit:   :Click Here

WHY: The practice of Building Information Modeling (BIM) makes collaboration across the construction industry possible by enabling significant data sharing between architects, project managers, general contractors and subcontractors. By creating a system where project information is shared and updated in real time, all specialists involved in the building process are working off of the same central model instead of inefficiently creating and re-creating a new set of plans for each aspect of the project.

True BIM should capture the best practices learned from project after project in a knowledgebase system that links associated items such as long-term energy management strategies and temporary construction facility information to the original design model. Doing so empowers all parties involved to draw upon past efforts to collaborate and streamline new construction projects. Interoperable access to multiple coordinated models can help members of the construction industry’s fragmented supply chain integrate data across the life of a project, and in doing so, improve efficiency and reduce project costs. This presentation by Dassault Systémes’ Patrick Mays will help architects and engineers learn how to use BIM or similar technology to focus more on the process of construction rather than the outcome.
