Managing Automation Announces First Annual Progressive Manufacturing Summit

Progressive Manufacturing Award Winners to Be Honored at Gala Dinner

NEW YORK, Sept. 30 /PRNewswire/ -- Managing Automation, a Thomas Publishing Company, LLC publication, announced today that it will hold its first annual Progressive Manufacturing Summit on March 16-18, 2005 at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in New Orleans.

Attendees at the Summit will be progressive manufacturing executives focused on issues surrounding their company's roadmap for technology-driven business transformation. "Manufacturing companies today are at a crossroad," explained David Brousell, Managing Automation's editor-in-chief. "Those that successfully learn how to use technology to create a sustainable competitive advantage, connecting the customer to the manufacturing process, will define the future of the industry."

The day-and-a-half-long summit will explore business and technology disciplines that progressive manufacturers must master: the business model, innovation, the customer, the supply chain, data and business integration, and education and training. The Summit kicks off on March 16th with an afternoon of workshops, a CEO Roundtable, the introductory keynote and an evening cocktail reception. The following day features keynote speakers, panels and roundtables centered on key issues such as globalization, outsourcing and competitiveness. The Summit concludes Friday morning with Managing Automation's Editor's Breakfast.

Featured speakers consist of industry luminaries with hands-on experience in technology driven business transformation. To date, speakers include Thomas J. Duesterberg, Ph.D., President/CEO of Manufacturers Alliance/MAPI; Randy Pond, Sr. Vice President, Operations, Processes, and Systems, Cisco Systems Inc.; Eric Marks, President/CEO, AgilePath Corporation; Navi Radjou, a member of Forrester's Enterprise Applications research team; and John Dean, Vice President/CIO, Global e-Business, Steelcase, Inc.

The Progressive Manufacturing Awards, which honor companies that have demonstrated mastery in one of each of the six business and technology disciplines, will be featured at a gala awards dinner on the evening of March 17th. The prestigious Progressive Manufacturer of the Year Award will be presented to the manufacturing company that best exemplifies the use of technology to create a sustainable competitive advantage. Award winners will also be recognized in Managing Automation's March 2005 print and online properties.

"High-level business and information technology executives from the leading manufacturing companies will want to attend the summit and be part of the community of progressive manufacturing companies that are defining the industry," said Managing Automation Publisher Heather Mikisch. "The event will help them apply advanced automation and IT technologies to connect their customers directly to what's made, how it's made and how it's delivered."
