2006 FSA Suppliers Expo Taiwan & Semiconductor Leaders Forum Focuses on Synergy within the Supply Chain

TAIPEI, Taiwan—(BUSINESS WIRE)—November 8, 2006— FSA, the voice of the global fabless business model, held its third annual FSA Suppliers Expo TAIWAN & Semiconductor Leaders Forum at the Taipei International Convention Center on November 8. The event was co-organized by DigiTimes.

To begin the day's program, Jodi Shelton, executive director of FSA, Dr. Pu-tsung King, Deputy Mayor, Taipei City, and Colley Hwang, President of DigiTimes, opened the event with their welcome addresses. Dr. Nicky Lu, president and CEO, Etron Technology, delivered the first keynote speech.

The title of Dr. Lu's speech was "Perspectives on the Global IC Design Industry and New Business Models." In the speech he demonstrated a video of General Douglas MacArthur inspiring the West Point students to emphasize his argument that "Entrepreneurs should plan their products base on customer and humanity needs, not just aiming for money." He also focused his speech on the importance of supply chain synergies: "one plus one is three," said Dr. Lu.

The Semiconductor Leaders Forum featured two additional keynote presentations from industry leaders, including:

-- Keith Barnes, president and CEO, Verigy, Ltd. - "Synchronizing the Supply Chain for Brilliant Results"

-- Divakaran Mangalath, chief technology officer, Wipro Technologies - "Global Innovations - New Synergies in Product Design"

During his presentation, Keith Barnes, president and CEO, Verigy, Ltd. mentioned the successes, challenges and opportunities faced by the Taiwan "Silicon Island." He also talked about synchronization within the semiconductor industry, especially between testing and IC design companies.

The event attracted 500 attendees and 40 supplier companies showcasing their products and services.

Platinum sponsors for this year's event included: TSMC, and UMC; the event collaborator was Semiconductor Industry Promotion Office (SIPO).
