Goering has covered the electronics industry for over 20 years in both print and online publications including Computer Design, EETimes, and SCDsource.com, and is a recipient of the 2007 ACM SIGDA Distinguished Service award.

Changes in readership habits have resulted in a trend towards online rather than print as the primary communication medium. Changes in publishing priorities have also resulted in reduced coverage overall of electronic design by the traditional trade press titles. As a consequence there is a marked reduction in editorial commentary provided to help readers identify issues and trends, develop perspectives, and gain a broader view of the industry.
