Pictometry Oblique Imagery Now Available Through TerraServer

RALEIGH, NC — March 23, 2009 — TerraServer, a leader in online satellite and aerial imagery, is enhancing its online image library with the addition of Pictometry oblique imagery. Through this partnership, Pictometry’s oblique imagery is being integrated with the extensive TerraServer image library which currently includes satellite photos, aerial images, topographical maps, aeronautical charts and custom imagery overlays. TerraServer also plans to make the Pictometry oblique imagery available for purchase with online downloading and printing options.

"We are particularly excited about this partnership because Pictometry oblique imagery is a unique addition to our ever-expanding library of imagery," said Brian Randy Funk, Chief Operating Officer of TerraServer. "Pictometry’s high resolution oblique imagery gives our customers premium choices for aerial imagery at a level of visual information not previously available before."

Unlike most aerial imagery which is captured at an directly overhead, Pictometry imagery is captured at a angle using a proprietary process. The result is imagery which reveals greater locational detail and information as well as multiple views of a location. Pictometry imagery also offers a full range of viewing options and provides optimal visual information for an all-around understanding of locations.

"Pictometry is committed to making high quality visual information easy to use and accessible, which is why we are especially pleased to partner with TerraServer in this way," said Dante Pennacchia, Pictometry’s Chief Marketing Officer.

TerraServer is utilized by many industries including construction, real estate, environmental, agriculture and education. The Pictometry oblique imagery will allow users to get a closer, more detailed view of their properties and destinations.
