Report: IBM Is Number One Server Vendor Worldwide in Q3 2007

ARMONK, NY -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Nov 29, 2007 -- IDC reported today that IBM (NYSE: IBM) continues to hold the number one position in worldwide server revenue share, with 30.0 percent factory revenue share in the third quarter of 2007. [1]

IDC also reported healthy industry growth in UNIX servers, which represents 31.1 percent of quarterly server revenue, with IBM achieving industry-leading factory revenue share of 31.9 percent. [2]

According to IDC, IBM System z mainframe also led servers priced at $250,000 or more with 28.1 percent worldwide revenue share for 3Q07. [3]

"IBM's leadership position with its System p and System z businesses marked a continuing trend in the industry toward server consolidation," said Bill Zeitler, senior vice president and group executive for IBM Systems & Technology Group. "IBM's investment in innovation for UNIX servers with its latest POWER6-based systems continues to drive growth in this important part of the industry."
