Lancaster, Pennsylvania (June 1, 2007) -- geographIT™ is pleased to announce that it will assist the engineering firm Johnson, Mirmiran and Thompson of Sparks, Maryland as a subcontractor providing professional geospatial consulting and software development services to the City of Baltimore Department of Public Works.
The 3-year project will consist of a variety of professional geospatial consulting and development services, such as geospatial database design; development of web-based mapping software; integration of Geographic Information System (GIS) software with work order management and document management systems; GIS software migration; configuration of database replication services; development of Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) standards for digital submission of utility design and as-built drawings; and development of wireless software for direct database connection and updates by field crews.
geographIT™ was awarded a recent contract by Bucks County, Pennsylvania to provide professional Geographic Information Systems (GIS) consulting services including cadastral database design, Computer Aided Mass Appraisal (CAMA) system integration, data maintenance procedures and data maintenance software specifications. This project represents the first step toward implementing an enterprise GIS at Bucks County following recommendations of a comprehensive implementation plan completed by geographIT™ in 2006.
geographIT™ was also recently awarded a contract to provide customized Geographic Information System (GIS) software training to staff at Fort Indiantown Gap, Pennsylvania. A total of four courses will be provided covering introductory and advanced topics, data migration, and implementing data maintenance workflows using database versioning techniques. Courses will consist of intensive hands-on use of GIS software through guided group examples and individual exercises. Class demonstrations and exercises will utilize client data and examples relevant to the needs of Fort Indiantown Gap. This project continues geographIT™’s long track record of providing professional GIS implementation and technical support services to Fort Indiantown Gap that started in the year 2000.
geographIT™ is pleased to announce that the Pennsylvania State University has contracted the firm to conduct a PAMAP Vector Demonstration Project. PAMAP is a statewide geospatial data sharing partnership between the U.S. Geological Survey, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and county governments. The program is coordinated through the Bureau of Topographic and Geologic Survey within the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources. This project will demonstrate many of the technical issues and recommendations contained in the PAMAP Vector Requirements report published by geographIT (May 2006). This project will involve collecting representative data from federal, state, and county government sources, converting the data into a common standard, and performing geometric edits on county data to improve data quality and usability. Deliverables will include demonstration vector datasets and labor estimates to implement seamless statewide data conforming to the PAMAP Vector Requirements recommendations.
