UK’s Foremost Crime Reduction Partnership to Work With GDC to Develop GeoReveal Enterprise

December 6, 2006 -- GDC, one of the UK’s leading providers of Geographical Information Systems (GIS), has announced today that it will work in partnership with the UK’s foremost crime prevention partnership, Greater Manchester Against Crime (GMAC), to develop an Enterprise version of its geo-statistics product - GeoReveal.

The announcement follows hard on the heels of the adoption of GeoReveal Studio 2.0 by GMAC in September 2006. GeoReveal Studio 2.0 is the latest release of GDC’s web-based tool that reveals trends in statistics by transforming them into interactive web presentations using charts, graphs and maps. It is the ideal system for scanning, performance management and the presentation of accurate and reassuring crime information to the public.

The Enterprise version will complement GeoReveal Studio by providing a complete data discovery environment for GMAC with fine grained security, user access and permissions. Users will be able to search for data and indicators using metadata keywords and build their own queries. In addition they will be able to create custom reports, area profiles and have the ability to aggregate statistical data to custom geometries. Data discovered through this environment is visualised through a GeoReveal presentation.

GMAC consists of a partnership between local authorities, the police, fire and ambulance services, probation service, the passenger transport executive, youth offending, community safety and drug action teams. GMAC’s partnership business model is an excellent example of the Home Office National Intelligence Model (NIM) Framework in operation.

Commenting on the decision to develop GeoReveal Enterprise jointly with GDC, GMAC’s Chris Sykes said: “GeoReveal Enterprise will improve our ability to work across borders and take common action when needed.  It will enhance our existing successful partnership with the ten local Crime and Disorder Reduction Partnerships (CDRP) in the Manchester area.”

Paul Clarke, GDC’s Police Sector Manager said: “We are delighted to be working in partnership with GMAC to develop a version of GeoReveal Enterprise which is tailored to fit their specific needs. We are already discussing our partnership approach with other CDRPs and because there’s been a lot of interest, we will be holding a series of seminars to share our experience, details of which will be available early in 2007.”
