Liebherr Group Expands Use Of PTC Product Development System

NEEDHAM, Mass.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—Sept. 5, 2006— PTC (Nasdaq: PMTC) the Product Development Company(TM), today announced that Liebherr Group, one the world's leading manufacturers of innovative and user friendly construction and moving machinery, has expanded its deployment of the PTC Product Development System (PDS). Liebherr has added 450 seats of Windchill(R) PDMLink(TM) to its existing use of Pro/ENGINEER(R) to improve data management at the company's R&D centers in America, Europe and Asia. The objective for Liebherr is to grow its global market position in different industry segments by leveraging and enhancing its time to market advantage and global presence. Facing increased competitive pressure in the aerospace business and the earth moving and mining equipment makes it necessary to deliver products faster than ever. PTC's solutions make it a lot easier for the globally distributed R&D centers to access current information and easily reuse existing product data in new development projects.

Liebherr Group has been a PTC customer since 1995 using Pro/ENGINEER as its standard product development solution. PTC products have contributed to shorter cycle times, reduced costs and improved product quality over the past years. Based on this success, the company is now expanding its deployment to Windchill PDMLink allowing better control of its distributed product development processes.

Recently, Liebherr group opened several new development, manufacturing and services facilities to be closer to its customers and increase its global presence. Theses sites need access to product development information so they can quickly adapt products with configurations that meet local requirements. The expectation is that PTC's PDS improves the information flow internally and externally in addition to speeding communication, decision making and other processes.

"Openness to existing systems, ease of deployment and comprehensive process support have made our Product Development System a crucial component to more and more companies as they seek to expand globally," said Josh Fredberg, vice president of product and market strategy, PTC. "Liebherr's long lasting partnership with PTC demonstrates our continued support of customers facing difficult challenges across product development processes such as detailed design and change and configuration management with a global, 24 by 7 business model."
