Alibre Design 9.1 Will Include Alibre Motion For Motion Simulation

RICHARDSON, TX -- (MARKET WIRE) -- Jul 20, 2006 -- Alibre, Inc. announced today that Alibre Design 9.1 will be available in early September 2006 and will include new features like integrated motion simulation and 3D PDF publishing.

The new Alibre Motion is fully integrated in Alibre Design Expert 9.1, easier to use, and available worldwide. Previously motion functionally was available through a licensing agreement that restricted it to North America only. Users can now access Alibre Motion directly in the Alibre Design workspace, making motion analysis and generating realistic animations a snap. Design constraints are automatically converted to motion constraints, which saves time and eliminates rework. Plus, all the motion data is stored in the model file. Alibre Motion allows kinematic and dynamic motion simulation, including prescribed forces and torques, such as that generated by a motor or actuator in a real-world machine. In addition, the new motion capability provides the ability to detect collisions and interferences in a moving assembly, and includes a variety of tools for modeling a mechanism or machine using joints, constraints, motors, actuators, springs, dampers, forces, torques or gravity.

Alibre Design 9.1 also includes the ability to publish designs and models as 3D PDF files. Adobe's 3D PDF is fast becoming the standard for allowing non-CAD designers to review and collaborate on 3D CAD files. Alibre Design Professional and Expert also include the ability to create 3D PDF files with animated exploded views and sequences of steps to help communicate design intent or document an assembly process. All 3D PDF files published with Alibre Design including those with imbedded animation can be viewed with the free Adobe Acrobat Reader.

"Alibre Motion and 3D PDF publishing are a big step forward in our effort to make advanced 3D CAD and related technology accessible to anyone who wants it," said Greg Milliken, CEO of Alibre. "Three key elements are necessary to accelerate the adoption of 3D CAD technology -- an emphasis on only the core features that appeal to the majority of users, ease of use and a price point anyone can afford. Alibre is the only company that addresses all of them and we continue to make progress on all three with each release."

The release also includes numerous performance improvements in both assembly modeling and 2D drawing creation, in addition to the following customer-driven feature enhancements:

-- Cursor centric zooming

-- Dimension styles

-- Multiple select dimension editing

The North American prices for Alibre Design Standard and Professional will continue to be $995 and $1495 respectively. The price for Alibre Design Expert will increase from $1795 to $1995.
