WHO: Joaquin J. Martinez de Pinillos, ICE program manager, NASA Michael Cassettari, vice president of marketing, Mathsoft Education & Engineering, Inc. John Sheehan, vice president of services, Mathsoft Education & Engineering, Inc. WHAT: Presentations related to the growing need for organizations to better manage their engineering calculations for reuse, auditing, oversight, publishing and collaboration throughout the entire product development process. These presentations will take place at the daratechSUMMIT2006, a leading conference examining best practices in product lifecycle management (PLM). WHEN: Monday, Feb. 20 through Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2006. WHERE: The Charles Hotel, Cambridge, Mass. WHY: Thousands of organizations fail to manage the critical calculations that support their engineering work. The risks of mismanaging calculations include needless redesign and disastrous errors, and the squandering of precious intellectual capital. The practice of sound calculation management addresses these concerns, applying principles and technologies from the realms of information management to the current calculation clutter. Calculation management is a critical component in effective PLM. On Monday afternoon, Joaquin J. Martinez de Pinillos, a Mathcad(R) user, will participate in the "PLM Implementation Best Practices" session. He will describe ICE, NASA's integrated collaborative environment for product development for the agency's Exploration Systems Mission Directorate (ESMD). His presentation will include a discussion of the CAD/CAE/PDM/PLM tools in ICE's architecture. He will present at 4:30 p.m. In a Monday morning general session, Mike Cassettari will detail the perils of mismanaging calculations as well as calculation management's significant role in PLM. On Wednesday, John Sheehan will participate in a 9 a.m. panel session focusing on "Securing Corporate IP in a Globalized PLM Environment." Mathsoft's Mathcad calculation software is the choice of more than 1.8 million engineers in more than 50 countries, including users at BAE Systems, Boeing, DuPont, Honeywell, Lockheed Martin, Rolls Royce and Universal Studios.
