Latest GibbsCAM Enhancements To Be Demonstrated At EMO

MOORPARK, CA – September 2, 2005 – Gibbs and Associates, developer of GibbsCAM(R), computer-aided manufacturing (CAM) software for programming computer numerically controlled (CNC) machine tools, announced that they will demonstrate the latest GibbsCAM enhancements during the EMO 2005 Conference. The convention is being held from September 14th– 21st at the Hannover Fairgounds in Hannover, Germany. The new GibbsCAM TMS, Machine Simulation, and ProAXYZ 4as modules will all be demonstrated with GibbsCAM 2005. In addition, the new GibbsCAM 2006 release will be previewed.

GibbsCAM TMS (Tombstone Management System) module specifically targets programming multiple parts fixtured on a tombstone, which has become a common machining practice in high throughput, lights-out manufacturing facilities. After the user orients and positions the various parts on the tombstone, this module automatically generates the offsets and rotations necessary for optimal machining.

The new GibbsCAM Machine Simulation module is used to simulate the machine tool motions to verify that there are no collisions between tooling, fixtures, parts or the machine. Collisions are automatically detected and reported so that corrections to the program can be made prior to causing costly mistakes on the shop floor.

The new GibbsCAM ProAXYZ 4as module supports programming 4-axis simultaneous machine tools augmenting GibbsCAM’s existing Rotary Milling module. ProAXYZ 4as is capable of directly machine wire-frame, surface or solid geometry and provides a variety of means for the programmer to control the cutting tool’s orientation relative to the part. ProAXYZ 4as supports off-center, Y-axis machining.

In addition to the new GibbsCAM modules, Gibbs will also preview GibbsCAM 2006, which contains a number of significant enhancements extending GibbsCAM’s overall capabilities or expand existing functionality across all GibbsCAM modules. New enhancements introduced in the GibbsCAM 2006 release fall into the following four major product themes: Machining Solid Models, Production Milling & Turning, 3D Milling, and High-Speed Machining. This release also includes an enhancement to GibbsCAM’s Network License Option which allows multiple GibbsCAM sessions to be launched on a single PC.

“The GibbsCAM 2006 release continues to add more functionality and value to the overall product line,” states Bill Gibbs, president and founder of Gibbs and Associates. “The list of enhancements included in this release was directly developed from feedback from GibbsCAM Resellers and end users. Existing users will be very pleased with the content and people looking at GibbsCAM for the first time will be impressed with its breadth and depth of capability.”
