Bill Gates And Maria Klawe To Address Importance Of Collaboration Between Academia And Industry

Next Week at the Microsoft Research Faculty Summit, Gates and Klawe Will Discuss Key Computer Science Issues

REDMOND, Wash., July 13 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Microsoft Research will kick off the sixth annual Microsoft(R) Research Faculty Summit on July 18 with a dialogue between Microsoft Corp. Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates and Princeton University Dean of Engineering and Applied Science Maria Klawe. Before an audience of more than 400 faculty researchers from 175 universities worldwide, Gates and Klawe will discuss their mutual concerns about the opportunities and challenges facing academic researchers and the technology industry, and the importance of collaboration between academia and industry. Starting at 9 a.m. the discussion can be viewed via webcast (see links by connection speed below).

The Faculty Summit is an annual conference that provides a lively forum for members of the global academic community and Microsoft researchers to exchange ideas, explore collaborative opportunities and showcase their innovative work in diverse areas of computing.
