SRAC Certifies COSMOS/ Suite of Analysis Software On AMD Athlon XP and AMD Athlon MP Processor-Based Systems

LOS ANGELES, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 19, 2002--Structural Research & Analysis Corp. (SRAC), a subsidiary of Dassault Systemes S.A. (Euronext Paris # 13065, DSY.PA, Nasdaq: DASTY), today announced that COSMOS/Works(TM), the best-selling design analysis program for SolidWorks® software, and COSMOS/DesignSTAR(TM), a powerful design analysis program that works with all popular 3D CAD programs, such as Solid Edge and Autodesk Inventor®, are now certified on systems using the AMD Athlon(TM) XP and AMD Athlon(TM) MP processor for workstations and servers.

The AMD Athlon XP processor features the new, patented QuantiSpeed(TM) architecture, which can deliver up to a 25-percent performance advantage versus competitive PC processors on a broad array of real-world applications, including computer aided engineering. The new AMD Athlon XP processor offers a significant performance advantage compared to the standard AMD Athlon processor. The AMD Athlon "XP" modifier is designed to convey the extreme performance AMD Athlon XP processors deliver for the upcoming Microsoft Windows XP operating system.

Based on the state-of-the-art AMD Athlon MP processor and the AMD-760(TM) MP chipset, AMD's multiprocessing platform supports Double Data Rate (DDR) memory technology and incorporates AMD's latest innovation, Smart MP technology. Smart MP technology enables the combined power of the processor and chipset to deliver better overall performance on widely available, x86-based, dual-processor platforms.

Engineering design analysis applications such as COSMOS/Works and COSMOS/DesignSTAR involve the computation of thousands of mathematical algorithms while running simultaneously with the mechanical CAD system -- a perfect candidate to benefit from the increased performance of the AMD Athlon XP and AMD Athlon MP processors.

"The COSMOS/(TM) suite of analysis products are powered by Fast Finite Element (FFE) solvers, the fastest solvers in our industry. FFE combined with the speed of the new AMD Athlon XP processor allows engineers to quickly solve even the most complex problems," says Suchit Jain, VP of Marketing for SRAC. "With COSMOS/ and AMD, engineers now have a powerful, cost effective solution that can handle the most difficult engineering problems faster than ever."

"COSMOS/ suite of applications and engineering analysis products are used by design engineers around the world," said David Kaplowitz, Senior Division Developer Relations Manager for AMD. "CAD engineers require superior processor performance, reliability and stability to be productive with this industry's processor-intensive software. AMD is committed to the computer-aided design and engineering markets, and with support from COSMOS/, will continue to provide powerful engineering tools to the mechanical computer-aided engineering market."
