Concepts NREC To Release New Blade Design Tool At ASME Turbo Expo

AxCent Generates Both Axial and Centrifugal Turbomachinery Blade Geometry
Concepts NREC to release new blade design tool at ASME Turbo Expo

Concepts NREC is proud to announce the release of AxCentTM, an efficient new design tool for generating turbomachinery blade and flow path geometry. AxCent will allow the geometric design and simultaneous real time fluid dynamic analysis of both axial and radial flow paths as well as rotating and stationary blade rows. In a broad range of applications, AxCent can be used for the design of pumps, compressors, turbines, fans and blowers.

Although AxCent is an enhanced new product, it is virtually the combination of two well-established design tools that include Concepts NREC’s CCAD for centrifugal turbomachinery and AXCAD for axial turbomachinery. In addition to reproducing all existing capabilities from CCAD and AXCAD, users of AxCent can also design and analyze machines that have combinations of axial and radial blade rows.

According to Kevin Read, aerodynamic engineer at Alstom Power, “AxCent expands on the combined strengths of AXCAD and CCAD. With the new features for adding cooling flow, AxCent is a quick and powerful tool for gas turbine analysis and design. The additional functionality of CADFit makes model creation for existing hardware simple and painless.”

AxCent is now an integral part of Concepts NREC’s Agile Engineering Design System and includes seamless links to all meanline, CFD, stress, manufacturing, and cooling codes from Concepts NREC as well as from most major CAD systems plus Fluent and other CFD packages, and iSIGHT for automated optimization.

AxCent will be demonstrated publicly for the first time at the upcoming ASME Turbo Expo in Reno Nevada. Turbomachinery developers, designers, and technicians are invited to attend a special Concepts NREC technology forum on Monday June 6th at 12:00 at the Reno Hilton. Or stop by Booth 123 at the exhibition to discuss this exciting new product.
