Hilti's laser measurement tools are combined with Arc Second's PocketCAD® software and Casio Pocket PCs to create a powerful as-builting solution for the AEC industry
DULLES, Va.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 5, 2002-- Arc Second, Inc., the leading provider of mobile CAD solutions, today announced that it has teamed with Hilti AG, a world leader in providing top-quality products for professional customers in the architecture, engineering and construction (AEC) industries.
Under the new teaming agreement, Hilti will promote Arc Second's PocketCAD PRO 4.0 as a powerful new extension of its PD25 high-end line of laser range meters. PocketCAD, running on Microsoft's Pocket PC platform and integrated with the Hilti PD25 Laser Range Meter, provides users with a powerful new as-built and inspection capability.
Hilti will encourage users who currently modify paper drawings in the field to "go digital" using their Laser Range Meters with the PocketCAD option.
Armin Spiegel, Senior Vice President and head of Hilti's Positioning Systems Group, noted, "The ability to bring Laser Range Meter measurements directly into your CAD drawing in the field using PocketCAD is revolutionary." Arc Second and Hilti will work closely with Casio, Inc. to bundle PocketCAD and the PD 25 Laser Range Meter with either the Casio EG 800 Ruggedized PocketPC or the Casio E200 PocketPC. Customers interested in buying the as-builting bundle, which will be available in late February, will be able to do so through the PocketCAD website, www.pocketcad.com. The as-builting package is designed for AEC professionals who frequently visit work sites to record the "as-built" conditions. The package will allow users to instantly modify their CAD drawings in the field with accurate measurement data from the PD25 Laser Range Meter. The updated CAD drawing can then be uploaded to the desktop in one simple step.
The as-builting package contains:
- The Casio EG800 or E200 PocketPC
- PocketCAD Pro 4.0 Software
- PocketCAD PD25 Interface Software Package
- Serial cable for connecting the PocketPC to the Hilti PD25
The Hilti PD25 Laser Range Meter will be sold separately by
Hilti.

Package 1 (Casio EG800 Ruggedized PocketPC): $1300 + shipping
and handling and applicable taxes. (Does not include Hilti

Package 2 (Casio E200 PocketPC): $1100 + shipping and handling
