Feb 20, 2015 -- J/E Bearing and Machine Ltd.  has donated its purchase of eight seats of Mastercam software to East Elgin Secondary School in Aylmer, Ontario. The Tillsonburg, ON-company is committed to investing in the future of manufacturing by putting the right tools into the hands of today’s students.

“One of our goals at J/E is definitely to get youth involved and show them how great a career in machining and manufacturing can be,” said Derek Rozon, Plant Manager at J/E Bearing and Machine.

Founded in 1983, J/E Bearing and Machine is a distributor of bearings and power transmission components. Today, the ISO 9001 company has evolved into a full service machine shop that also supplies CNC machining, general machining, and maintenance repair and overhaul. J/E purchased the software from In-House Solutions, the OEM supplier of Mastercam in Canada, who contributed by discounting the Software. Mastercam is considered the world’s leading CAD/CAM software, and provides a powerful set of industry-standard toolpaths and teaching aids to educational institutions worldwide, giving the students more options when they graduate.

Manufacturing is one of the country’s most important business sectors, and workers skilled in trades and technologies play a crucial role in Canada’s future economic stability. According to a report by Canadian Manufacturers & Exporters (CMC), growth plans for more than 30 percent of Canadian companies are being impacted by current labour shortages. Investing in education and training programs is just one of several recommendations in the CMC’s Manufacturing our Future action plan.
