The New Face of Polygonica (MachineWorks)

Sheffield - 24th October, 2013 - Sheffield based MachineWorks Ltd, provider of CNC simulation & verification and polygonal mesh processing software - has welcomed a new member to its business development team.Polygonica sales manager

Dr David Knight will have responsibility for the exciting new Polygonica software: a fast, robust and automatic polygonal mesh processing toolkit. Polygonica's proven technology  has been at the core of the MachineWorks software toolkit for machining simulation for nearly 20 years and is embedded in many leading manufacturers. It provides efficient and stable algorithms for polygonal mesh healing, simplification, Boolean operations, solid offsetting and slicing/profiling.

"Polygonica delivers a compelling solution for mesh processing in a wide variety of industries" said Dr Knight. "In particular, 3D printing is a very hot topic and ensuring watertight meshes is vital to successfully complete an additive manufacturing process.  Other industries where Polygonica can make a real difference are CAD/CAM, CAE, CFD, reverse engineering, simulation, and gaming".

"We are very pleased to welcome David into our business team" said Dr David Manley, Managing Director of MachineWorks Ltd. "This is an exciting time for Polygonica and it is critical we have the sales as well as technical resources to fully realise the potential of this new product".

Dr Knight has a long history in computer graphics and simulation both in technical and managerial positions, having worked for Structure Vision Ltd, Quantum3D Inc, Advanced Visual Systems Inc and the Numerical Algorithms Group before joining MachineWorks. He holds a BEng in Engineering Science from the University of Liverpool and a DPhil in Computer Graphics from the University of Oxford. In his spare time he enjoys cycling, skiing and early T2 bay campervans.
