ASCON to Hold C3D and PLM Briefings at COFES Russia 2013

St Petersburg, Russia: 27 May 2013 -- From May 30 to June 1, COFES Russia 2013 will be held in St. Petersburg. ASCON Group is an official partner of the congress on the future of engineering software, and will host technology briefings, such as about the newly released C3D kernel and on the prospects of PLM for small- and medium-size businesses.

COFES is a series of annual conferences presented by Cyon Research, including in Russia. They provide a platform for cross-industry discussions on software tools used for design, engineering, manufacturing, and construction. COFES brings together a community of software vendors, developers, resellers, analysts, and users for private and public discussions in a relaxed, informal, yet intense atmosphere.

COFES Russia this year unites leaders, analysts, developers, and other professionals representing the CAD community from the world and Russia. The event will focus on the intersection of global trends, and the potential for those trends to positively impact businesses in Russia.

The 2013 Russian congress will open with a seminar presented by ASCON on the C3D geometric kernel (see ascon.net/main/news/items/?news=1505). C3D Product Director Oleg Zykov will present the team that developed C3D, and the history of the kernel. Later during COFES, ASCON will hold technology briefings on the topics of  "Moving from Individual to Collaborative Design” and “The Role of PLM for Small Firms."

ASCON along with other industry leaders will participate in a plenary discussion titled "Perspectives on PLM." Representing ASCON will be Nikoly Nyrkov, CEO of DEXMA Labs (www.dexma-plm.com), the ASCON subsidiary developing Web-based PLM systems.

ASCON's History of Participation at COFES

The ASCON team has for several years now attended the COFES event in Arizona, USA. ASCON CEO Maxim Bogdanov states that almost all of the company's new products were developed after being influenced by the experience gained from participating at COFES.

Business contacts made at the congress allowed international technology partners to join in the development of new ASCON solutions. For example, ASCON staff became acquainted at COFES with Lightworks, a company from England and a world leader in 3D visualization for CAD/CAM/CAE systems developers. Just six months later, ASCON unveiled the Artisan Rendering application for KOMPAS-3D, allowing users to create photo-realistic images. Today, Artisan Rendering is actively used by 60 enterprises.

At COFES also ASCON strengthened its alliance with Redway of France. Through this partnership, ASCON licensed the Redsdk rendering application, whose technology will be integrated into new 3D modeling products , allowing video cards to display high-quality images.

The C3D geometric kernel was launched at COFES 2012, at which attendees such as CAD developers and major universities showed great interest in testing it. At the recommendation of COFES founder Brad Holtz,  Dr. Ken Versprille, the inventor of NURBS, became a guest consultant to the kernel team.
